Residential Security, Fire, and Surveillance

Will my alarm system work with a voice over IP or digital phone line provider?
We DO NOT recommend using VoIP or digital lines to connect a home alarm system. If a power outage were to occur, or interruption in your internet service, your home alarm system will not be able to communicate with our central station. This is just one example of why the system may not communicate with these phone lines. We offer several other means of communication through our monitoring center to avoid these potential problems.

Yes, your alarm system can send out signals through your DSL phone line, however a DSL filter is required and will need to be installed to ensure there are no interruptions on the line.
What happens to my alarm system if the phone line is cut?
If your system is armed, the siren will sound but ABF will not receive a signal. However, ABF can install our exclusive SafeNet or cellular unit which secures the transmission of the signal.
Can my system be monitored without a phone line?
Yes, we are able to monitor your system without a land line. Call and ask one of our sales representatives about our SafeNet radio or cellular monitoring system.

Yes, all security systems have what is called a standby or backup battery. In the event of a power loss in your home or business, this battery can supply power to the system for up to 24 hours, depending on the size of the battery backup. Caveat: You must have phone service during the power outage or have ABF’s SafeNet or Cellular Unit, which sends signals wirelessly to our monitoring center.
How often should I test my system?
You should test your system once a month. Call our Emergency Response Center at any time and they will be happy to assist you.

The options are seemingly limitless and can be confusing. Talk with one of our commercial account representatives today about your security needs and the benefits of each of these technologies.
Should I choose analog or IP cameras?
The choice depends on what the objectives of your overall security plan are. If your primary objective is to deter criminals and document a possible break-in or other criminal activity, a quality analog system may be all you need. If you are trying to detect sources of inventory shrinkage, document slip and fall incidents or other workplace accidents, or need to maintain several months of recorded footage, an IP camera system may be your best solution. Discuss your specific security concerns with our staff, and we can help you choose the system that is right for you.

Commercial Access Control and Intercom

What is Access Control?

Why would I need access control?

How does access control work?
Each person who needs access to your facility is given a credential (either a card or a small ‘keyfob” for attaching to your keychain). When placed in close proximity of the readers mounted by each door, the reader ‘reads’ the card and checks that information against the system programming, and either allows or denies access based on that information.

A “Mag” Lock is the most basic type of electronic lock. A large electro-magnet is mounted on the door frame and a corresponding armature is mounted on the door. When the magnet is powered and the door is closed, the armature is held fast to the magnet, preventing the door from being opened.
